Dutch Chocolate Cake


Ingredients

200g butter
125g dark chocolate
1 1/2 cups caster sugar
1 cup Dutch cocoa
5 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence

Method

Heat water in pot on stove top and bring to a simmer.

Put butter and chocolate into a stainless steel bowl and place over simmering water. Stir until both are melted and combined.

In a separate bowl, sift the cocoa.

In another bowl lightly whisk your eggs.

Add melted chocolate to the cocoa and gently stir in your eggs until mixture is combined.

Lightly grease a 22cm cake baking tray. (You could also line it with greaseproof paper.)

Pour cake mix into baking tray and place into preheated oven.

Bake for 1 hour at 160°C.

Allow cake to cool.
