Great atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The ceiling art and subtle design features of the interior lend an immediate sense that something of high quality will follow. Coffee: genovese made by Wega needless to say is equal to any of the best in Melbourne. Food: pasta with Vongole authentic and divine. Gnocchi excellent texture. Tira Mi Su delectable. Service: attentive.
Men braving the Sicilian Targa Florio open road mountain race in the 70s liked wine and coffee, a good steak and something sweet, from whom Byron Bay restaurant Targa adopts its philosophy today. Enjoy balmy weather dining alfresco with the smell of salt from Byron’s iconic beach just two streets away or step inside Targa’s contemporary space to eavesdrop on the two old locals chattering in a piece of wall-sized realism art. Build your own breakfast from toasted sourdough and eggs done your way, with an assortment of classic fresh, grilled and roasted brekkie items and stop by later for European-inspired meals like shredded pork belly with rocket, aioli and pickled zucchini or Angus beef sirloin (300g) char grilled with hand cut sweet potato chips, silverbeet, raisins and pine nuts.
Beef short rib, slow cooked with eggplant caponata potato torte.
