Tetsuya to cook for Melbourne for the first time

In a rare event at Pure South Dining, Two Michelin star Chef Tetsuya Wakuda will collaborate with Pure South’s executive Chef David Hall to prepare a six-course degustation dinner for Melburnians.

Tetsuya has long been conspicuous in his appreciation and preference for Tasmanian produce, so much so that he is now a proud ambassador for Brand Tasmania.

"The environment is wonderful. The clean air, water and good soil makes Tasmanian produce above and beyond organic,” says Tetsuya.

An internationally celebrated Chef, Tetsuya is known for his culinary philosophy that centres on pure and clean flavours that are decisive and completely refined. Tetsuya’s signature style will come together with David’s commitment to sourcing Tasmanian produce, often rare and flown in direct from the pure south via light plane.

In 2017, Tetsuya received Two Michelin stars for his Singapore restaurant Waku Ghin. Tetsuya’s eponymous Sydney restaurant once ranked in the World’s Top 10.

This history making Melbourne dining event will be hosted by Tetsuya’s close friend and much-loved media personality Ray Martin.

Pure South Dining’s owner Philip Kennedy is thrilled to work with the master Chef.

"Tetsuya is an icon of our industry in Australia, and one of the world's great chefs. No one is as well versed in Tasmanian produce as Tetsuya; it is a thrill and an honour to have him collaborate with our team for maybe our greatest celebration of Tasmanian fare, ever,” says Philip.Tetsuya to cook for Melbourne for the first time
