Amaretto Summer, Aussie Style with Flour Child and Disaronno

By Marie-Antoinette Issa.

Didn’t make it to Euro Summer 2025? Plans for next year, still a pipe dream? We have it on good authority that the Amalfi Coast has packed up and landed in Melbourne. Now’s your chance to find it at Flour Child - with the city’s cult Italian pizzeria and cocktail bar teaming up with iconic Italian liqueur Disaronno for an indulgent Summer experience.

It’s nothing short of la dolce vita in a glass. Enter Amaretto Summer, a limited-edition collaboration that brings 500 years of Italian craftsmanship straight to St Kilda and Richmond, with a modern Melbourne twist.

From now through to January, both Flour Child venues are embracing the season with a menu that marries bold flavours, playful experimentation and sheer indulgence. At the heart of it is Disaronno, whose unmistakable almond and cherry profile inspires every sip and bite.

The cocktail program, curated with master mixologists, features six inventive takes on the classic Amaretto, each a cheeky nudge to the liqueur’s cult status. There’s the sweetly sophisticated Amaretto Sour, the unexpectedly fresh twist with cherry and herbs and a host of secret creations that keep the adventurous coming back for more.

Lest you forget the food for which Italy is famed, Head Chef Elliot Dew has created a menu that’s unapologetically indulgent and wholly Italian - with each dish designed to pair perfectly with Amaretto cocktails.

The Disaronno-glazed peach and prosciutto pinsa pizza balances sweet, salty and nutty notes. Burrata lovers will swoon over the Disaronno-glazed peach, shallot and thyme creation, its creamy richness enhanced by subtle almond undertones. For those with a sweet tooth, the Disaronno and cherry gelato panino fritto - essentially a fried gelato sandwich - is a playful finale and nod to Summer’s mischievous, indulgent side.

Flour Child has always had a knack for injecting Italian energy into Melbourne dining and this collaboration leans into it wholeheartedly. The venues themselves have been transformed into a visual ode to Disaronno, with cherry reds, blush pinks and crisp whites creating an immersive experience that is both modern and nostalgically romantic.

Soft neon lighting, lush roses and curated design touches make it as Instagram-ready as it is inviting - perfect for a Friends-mas gathering, a late-afternoon aperitivo or a long, languid dinner under the lights.

"Partnering with Disaronno, a brand that represents timeless Italian sophistication, allowed us to reimagine what Summer dining could look like,” says Simon Kouba, co-founder of Flour Child. "We’ve created something that feels like the Amalfi Coast landed in our venues; vibrant, indulgent and designed to be shared.”

Disaronno Australia Brand Manager Angelina Paed adds, "Our 500th anniversary is a tribute to the legacy of Italian style and connection and what better way to celebrate than through Flour Child, a venue that perfectly captures modern Italian flair. This is a toast to the next 500 years and to the Amaretto Sour - the unexpected hero of Summer.”

Whether it’s a sun-soaked brunch, a lazy afternoon with friends, or an evening of cocktails and nibbles, Flour Child’s Amaretto Summer is a festival of colour, flavour and pure Italian indulgence. Every sip, every bite, every corner of the transformed venues tells a story of heritage meeting contemporary flair, of classic ingredients with cheeky new twists and of a Summer that demands to be savoured.
