For most of us, it is the taste of chocolate that is the drawcard - the smooth, creamy texture and sweet sensation on the taste buds could be classed as sin on a spoon. There is no better food to serve Mum on her special day than a chocolate creation that will have her sighing with contentment.
We’ve put together five sure-fire recipes to make Mother’s Day extra special in your household…
If you’ve never tried avocado chocolate mousse before, this recipe will take you completely by surprise. The avocado texture makes the mousse smooth, thick and delicious, along with adding healthy fats, fibre and a host of vitamins.
While it may look a little high on the calorie scale, the good and healthy avocado fats combined with the anti-oxidants of dark chocolate make this dessert not only swoon-worthy, but also reasonably good for you.
Tim Tams are an Aussie institution as Kendall Jenner found out when she arrived Down Under last year and was introduced to the Tim Tam slam. Mum will be blown away by this chocolate cake with toasted marshmallows, combining the age-old flavours of chocolate and coffee, along with cherry jam, marshmallows and crushed nuts. This can be made the day before and served up high tea-style with a drink of choice.
Every Mum deserves a special cocktail on Mother’s Day. This Chocolatini concoction is a great opportunity to use up some of the copious amounts of leftover Easter eggs in the fridge; while our recipe calls for Crème de Cacao, chocolate liqueur and Vodka, white Crème de Menthe can be substituted for a minty version.
A chocolate laden solution for Mum’s cool weather survival, these chocolate pancakes are sure to put a smile on everyone’s face come Sunday morning. AGFG resident Chef Shawn Sheather created this divine recipe using organic flour, dark chocolate and double cream.
