Ever wanted to spend a day walking in the shoes or gumboots of a Tasmanian truffle hunter and experience all the elements of unearthing this highly-sought after nugget of black gold?
For a one-of-a-kind immersive experience, The Truffledore in Lower Barrington offers a two-night, all-inclusive experience for the real truffle and dog lover.

From training your dog to cooking up a truffle feast, spent two nights with Truffledore owners, Timo and Ina and have their undivided attention as you hunt far and wide for these little knobs of flavour. Starting with a farm and a meet and greet with the farm’s three truffle dogs.
After choosing which dog you want to work with, learn how to train your dog to find the scent of a ripe truffle. Building rapport with your canine is important for when the real-life truffle hunt begins.
Discover how to assess if the truffle is ripe and ready for harvest, how to dig and unearth it and later how to clean and grade your truffles.

After an eventful day on the hunt, join Timo in the kitchen and learn how to make the most of your fresh harvest cooking up a truffle dinner.
This is a chance to be as hands-on as you wish or sit back and let Timo do all the hard work while you enjoy a well-deserved glass of Tasmanian Pinot Noir by the fireplace.
The experience includes two nights’ accommodation in the farm stay, along with meals and drinks.
The Truffledore also offers truffle hunts during the black Winter truffle season as well as an annual end of season feast under the oak trees.

You can sample truffle products, learn what makes truffles so special, how they are grown, harvested and used.
Ina and Timo took on the farm and business in early 2019 and it has been a wonderful much-needed tree change.
Getting the hang of the truffle-growing business has been an adventure and steep learning curve but the couple says they love combining their passion for great food and simple farm living with their European heritage in a true farm-to-table experience.
