AUSTRALIAN GOOD FOOD GUIDE - Home of the Chef Hat Awards

Restaurant and Bar Awards Shortlist 2023.

The Restaurant and Bar Design Awards season is well underway, with a judging panel of global luminaries from the world of design, hospitality and media reviewing 1130 entries from 61 countries across 37 categories, resulting in a shortlist of 258 projects.

That’s quite a few figures - here’s the breakdown and what that actually means.

The Restaurant and Bar Design Awards are the most important and influential design competition for food and beverage spaces worldwide. Now in its 15th year, the event recognises and celebrates the world's most creative spaces and the people behind them.

There are a few reasons restaurants would want to enter the judging process, including visibility and recognition. Each restaurant or bar that enters is judged on its designs by a highly respected and influential panel with recognition from the world’s leading design and lifestyle publications.

While each entry receives its own landing page to be seen by designers, architects, media and other restaurateurs worldwide, it’s also a great way to identify upcoming trends and compare what’s happening out there in the world of good design, with a foodie focus.

There are five categories to cover specific world regions, so for us here in Australia, we have our own category, 'Australia and the Pacific', with 13 more categories open worldwide. All entries are automatically considered for the best restaurant/bar award for their region and for the ultimate global awards of Best Overall Restaurant and Best Overall Bar.

The 2023 shortlist can be viewed here with 14 entries listed under Australia and it’s not just Sydney and Melbourne this year - there are also entries from Adelaide and Perth!

Category winners will be announced on the week commencing September 4 on Instagram and the design website and the ceremony will be held in London’s Florattica on October 19 attended by the most influential hospitality designers and operators in the world.

Stay tuned, as we’ll report back on that with anticipation.

Good luck to all finalists.
