Broadbeach witnessed the rebirth of a culinary legend this week as Mamasan - one of the Gold Coast’s most beloved dining institutions - reopened its doors with a breathtaking transformation, marking a defining moment as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
For a decade, Mamasan has been the beating heart of Broadbeach’s dining scene, a place where the hum of conversation mingled with the aromas of bold Asian flavours. Now, as it enters its next era, Mamasan has not simply renovated its walls - it has reimagined the very essence of its experience.

Guests are discovering extraordinary new spaces designed to embrace every occasion, from intimate dinners to lavish private events, cementing Mamasan’s position as the Gold Coast’s premier destination for sophisticated Asian dining.
At the centre of this evolution is a spectacular new private dining room. Enveloped in moody Japanese charred timber panelling and bathed in carefully orchestrated warm lighting, the space offers an intimate sanctuary for up to 10 guests.
Its centrepiece, a striking round table, beckons families, friends and colleagues to gather in exclusivity - the perfect setting for milestone celebrations or corporate gatherings that demand elegance and privacy.

The renovation has also dramatically expanded Mamasan’s footprint, with the dining room now flowing seamlessly through to Elizabeth Street. This new configuration answers a long-unmet need on the Gold Coast, offering sophisticated spaces capable of hosting large groups privately without sacrificing intimacy or atmosphere.
Complementing the interior is Mamasan’s sun-kissed alfresco deck - a versatile space that connects with the main dining area through innovative bi-fold windows. When fully opened, they blur the boundaries between indoors and out, inviting ocean breezes and natural light while retaining the restaurant’s signature moody ambience.
With year-round heating, the deck effortlessly transforms from a relaxed daytime retreat into a glowing evening setting. Perhaps the most striking design element is the sweeping use of quartzite stone, which weaves a sophisticated visual thread throughout the venue, adding a tactile richness that mirrors the depth of flavour in Mamasan’s celebrated dishes.

While the setting has evolved, Mamasan’s culinary soul remains intact. Executive Chef Tan continues to showcase the bold flavours that diners have cherished for the past decade, while introducing fresh creations that reflect his evolving vision.
This balance honours beloved classics while signalling a bold new chapter in Mamasan’s story. Longtime devotees will find comfort in the dishes they know and love, while adventurous diners will discover inventive new plates that push the boundaries of contemporary Asian dining. It is this interplay of nostalgia and discovery that promises to captivate both loyal regulars and first-time guests – find the menu here.
For co-founders Lauren and JP Duitsch, the milestone has been both a reflection and an opportunity to reimagine.

"Reaching our 10-year anniversary gave us the opportunity to reimagine every detail of Mamasan,” says Lauren. "The new design allows for more experiences and memories to be made and a stronger connection between our spaces.”
JP adds: "The renovation creates new possibilities for the venue while preserving the sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere that has made it a destination for our loyal regulars and new diners.”
Now that Mamasan has officially reopened, it does so not just as a restaurant, but as a redefined landmark - one that honours a decade of culinary leadership while setting the stage for its next.
