Jonah’s Triumphs with Australia’s Best Listing of Australian Wines 2025

Perched high above Sydney’s Whale Beach, Jonah’s has long been synonymous with coastal luxury and refined dining. Now, the iconic restaurant has added another glittering accolade to its impressive list of honours - being named Best Listing of Australian Wines at the 2025 Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards.

This latest recognition cements Jonah’s reputation as one of Australia’s most accomplished wine destinations. Following on from its 2024 triumphs - which included Australia’s Best List of Wines by the Glass and finalist positions for Best Listing of Museum and Rare Wines and Best Food and Wine Matching List - the restaurant continues to prove that excellence, for Jonah’s, is an enduring pursuit rather than a passing moment.

In the 2025 Awards, Jonah’s was also named a national finalist in four further categories, placing it among the country’s top four venues for:

  • Best Wines by the Glass Offering
  • Best Australian Sparkling List Offering
  • Best Champagne List Offering
  • Best New Zealand Selection
Wine judge Lisa Cardelli praised the restaurant’s carefully curated list, describing it as "meticulously assembled…where a load of time, heart and soul have clearly been put into it, from beginning to end.”

She highlighted the accessibility and depth of the collection, noting the opportunity to enjoy rare vintages without exorbitant prices: "I would go for a 2000 Mt Mary ‘Quintet’ while dreaming of a 1990 Henschke ‘Hill of Grace’ or a 1971 Penfolds Grange and still be happy.”

Jonah’s enduring dedication to its wine program is well recognised. Since 2012, the restaurant has maintained the coveted Three Glass Rating from Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards - the highest honour of its kind. Internationally, it has received Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence (Two Glasses) every year since 2011, further confirming its world-class standing.

Adding to this year’s celebrations, Jonah’s was also named Australasian Regional Winner for Best Long Wine List 2025 by The World of Fine Wine, while continuing its streak of excellence with Wine Spectator’s 2025 recognition.

Head Sommelier Georgina Larsson credits the restaurant’s success to a philosophy centred on storytelling and connection.

"At Jonah’s, our wine program is built around the guest experience,” she explains. "Our Sommeliers offer personal narratives for each wine, sharing insights into the regions, vintages and winemakers behind every bottle. This approach transforms wine into an educational and sensory journey, elevating every dining experience.”

This commitment to depth and discovery perfectly complements Jonah’s culinary artistry and breathtaking setting. Nestled in the cliffs overlooking the Pacific, the venue offers sweeping ocean views from its elegant dining room and private balconies. The atmosphere is one of effortless sophistication - sunlight dancing on the waves by day, candlelit serenity by night - making it as much a feast for the senses as for the palate.

Blending award-winning wine, innovative fine dining and the dramatic coastal beauty of Whale Beach, Jonah’s remains a quintessential destination for lovers of food, wine and luxury. Its 2025 win simply confirms what guests have known for decades: that Jonah’s is more than a restaurant - it’s an experience that defines Australian excellence.
