For the first time since 2008, ANZAC biscuits are on the menu at Subway this year – and for a good cause.
Once tossed out of the fast-food oven due to cost, Subway has now partnered with the Returned Services League of Australia (RSL) to raise funds through the sale of the biscuits to assist veterans and their families around the country.
Available until May 4, a percentage of all ANZAC bikkie sales at Subway’s more than 1200 outlets will go to support RSL programs to aid the nation’s veterans community.

An icon on the Australian baked goods scene, these baked treats date back to World War I when they were sent in care packages to soldiers at Gallipoli and on the Western Front as a welcome and non-perishable alternative to bland soldiers’ rations.
Protected by law, prospective sellers of the biscuits have been required to resemble the original recipe in order to use the name.
One of the original reasons Subway canned the biscuits was the cost of following the original recipe, it has now back-flipped and is producing the iconic sweet treat to directly support those who have served our country.
"At a time when many Australians are buying ANZAC biscuits as a tribute to those who have served our nation, Subway is using the traditional recipe that dates back to World War I and all funds raised will assist veterans,” the RSL said.
"Our partnership with Subway is an important initiative and provides the opportunity for future promotions to support our veterans and their families.”
