Cocktails of the Week from Grinners Dive Bar and Mamasita!

Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!

You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.

What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant? Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.

Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.

To celebrate all things South of the Border this week, we have two Mexican-inspired drinks to put the arriba into your next fiesta:

Cocktails of the Week from Grinners Dive Bar and Mamasita!

Mexican street food and good booze are what have Hobart foodies raving over Grinners Dive Bar on Elizabeth Street in the heart of the city. Chill out with a cocktail and unwind from the hustle and bustle outside in eclectic surrounds of a cattle skull, walls covered with stickers and posters, along with live music to keep the toes tapping and dishes to appease all tastes.

For a sense of mystery and great flavours, try Grinners' Chocolate Smoke cocktail – with tequila, crème de cacao, Mezcal, chocolate bitters, lime and agave, this drink will knock the socks off your usual Mexican cocktail.

Like all good things, a table at Mamasita is definitely worth waiting for, so follow the crowd to this Collins Street establishment. This hugely popular eatery has been described as Melbourne’s first true taqueria and its smart wooden benches, banquettes and bar stools are full from lunch ’til late.
