Cocktail of the Week from Olive Thyme

Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!

You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.

What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant. Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.

Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.

Cocktail of the Week from Olive Thyme

Just like its owners, Olive Thyme Turkish Cuisine on Sandgate Road in Albion is where Turkish tradition meets modern inspiration. Nestled in a beautiful heritage-listed 1920s building, this restaurant has a warm, welcoming ambience of polished wood floors, intimate table settings clothed in white linen and walls adorned with colourful china plates.

Raki is an aniseed spirit produced in Turkey. The taste is very similar to Sambuca, Ouzo, Absinthe or Pastis. However, Raki is usually supported by slightly sweet grape notes; therefore, the Turkish spirit can be enjoyed very well pure, as a shot or on ice from a tumbler.

Alternatively, you can also use the spirit in various Raki cocktails – here is Olive Thyme’s version of the Rakin Roll cocktail - which you can prepare a special taste experience for yourself and your guests.
