Cocktail of the Week from Montage Piazza.

Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!

You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.

What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant? Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.

Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.

Inspired by Southern Italy, take in stunning Sydney waterfront views and authentic cuisine at Montage Piazza on Frazer Street in Lilyfield. This modern piazza and bar is the ideal place to watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand, or head to the whiskey bar to sample drops from around the world; while indoors, an iconic ambience of moody lighting and intimate tables sets the scene for memorable meals.

Mixologist Amy recommends trying the signature Espresso Martini – made with freshly ground Vittoria coffee, sugar syrup, vodka and butterscotch schnapps with a crystalised sugar rim – perfect for coffee lovers with a sweet tooth.

"An Espresso Martini is not really a martini, which is made from gin and vermouth, but rather got its name because it is generally served in a martini glass,” she explains. "The three coffee beans that garnish your drink represent health, wealth and happiness.”

The cocktail got its name as it is not your classic Espresso Martini, because of the butterscotch twist.

Bottoms up!
