Cocktail of the Week from Banks & Solander Distillery Mixologist Lucas Bucton.

Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!

You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.

What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant? Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.

Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.

Hidden in the back alleys of Botany, find boutique micro-distillery Banks & Solander on Salisbury Street. This family-owned business is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Marty and Ed and built on a passion for making fine spirits, hand crafting artisanal refreshments from the best ingredients for you to enjoy.

After years of hard work on evenings and at the weekend, Banks & Solander now has its own place housing two stills to make signature gin, limoncello and a coffee liqueur; while constantly experimenting to find new ingredients, flavours and aromas to create the next generation of spirits.

"With Summer just around the corner (and we are expecting a hot one) there is nothing better to kick off your weekend than an Oasis Highball. After a hot day out, you need something that not only quenches your thirst but also has all the elements of sun safety tied into it,” explains mixologist Lucas Bucton.

"If you've been out all day and the sun has really done some damage on you, the first thing you reach for is that Aloe Vera spray, and the relief it provides is otherworldly. Well guess what, we've incorporated Aloe into this cocktail.”

Remember that familiar smell of coconut in all your best sunscreen lotions, well Lucas has got that essence of coconut in this cocktail. That's exactly why an Oasis Highball is all you need for these sweltering months! It has the smell and taste of Summer!
