There’s a View Around Every Corner – 2 RCA-winning Restaurants on Tassie’s East Coast.

Take a deep breath of salty air and wander along one of the secluded beaches or hinterland forest tracks on Tassie’s East Coast.

Slurp an oyster plucked straight from the sea, eat fresh crayfish and chat to winemakers at their cellar doors as you embrace simple luxuries – take time to pull over and follow a beach track, order seafood at a fish shack and fall asleep with an ocean soundtrack.

Continuing on our delicious drive around Australia of 2023 Readers’ Choice award-winning restaurants, here are two locations that will satisfy any hunger growl:

Readers’ Choice 2023 – Regional:

Situated inside the Edge of the Bay on the iconic Freycinet Peninsula, Lure Wine Bar Restaurant on Coles Bay Road features incredible water views over Great Oyster Bay and the famous Hazards Mountains. A stone’s throw from the water expect to see local wildlife and birds with the ever-present chance of dolphins and whales.

The menu has a strong focus on locally sourced Tasmanian produce such as Cape Grim beef, duck, truffles, lamb, pork and fresh seafood; think dishes like tartare of Tasmanian ocean trout, scallop and caviar, before a Frenched lamb rack with sides of silky Dutch cream mash, sautéed steamed garden greens and red wine jus.

Readers’ Choice 2023 – Seafood:

Take in stunning sunsets over the water with a cocktail in hand at The Wharf Bar & Kitchen on Marina Parade in St Helens. You can’t get any more waterfront than this locally-loved venue on Tasmania’s east coast, settle in and watch boats glide into the marina over azure blue seas from the alfresco area, or indoors where a full glass frontage offers similar vistas.
