The legendary Pilgrims vegetarian cafe has officially reopened with a custom-built modern coastal space directly opposite Cronulla Beach in the vibrant Cronulla Mall.
As South Sydney’s only fully vegetarian cafe, Pilgrims is loved for its wholesome plant-based menu, large portion sizes and relaxed coastal vibe. With hearty meals that even non-vegetarians rave about, Pilgrims has been a Cronulla institution for more than a decade.
The new ground-floor location on iconic Surf Road, features enormous windows looking onto beautiful Cronulla Beach and Cronulla Park. This spot has 55 outdoor seats to soak up the ocean views, pet-friendly dining outside and beautiful modern coastal interiors.
"We’re so glad to be back after seven months of closure,” says Anthony, owner of Pilgrims Cronulla. "We are open 7 days a week from 7 am-3 pm”.
Pilgrims fans can expect all the classic menu items, from the bliss burger and halloumi stack to acai bowls, toasties, wraps and giant salads.
Much-requested new specials will be added within the coming weeks, including the long-awaited vegan pancakes. This menu is loved by locals, as well as day-trippers who visit because they've enjoyed the original Pilgrims Milton location since the 1980s.
The closure of Pilgrims Cafe in December 2024 sparked significant controversy in the Cronulla community, after the site was approved for redevelopment. Locals mourned the loss of both the historic building and the cafe itself; a spot many described as ‘quintessential Cronulla’.
"We’ve kept the classic Pilgrims menu items you know and love, with the iconic Pilgrims beach view. We now have 55 undercover outdoor seats with heaters so you can enjoy the view and even bring pets!” says Anthony.
Shire locals and Sydney-siders have highly anticipated the return of Pilgrims and have shown their support on social media.
"We’ve felt so much support from the community who have been messaging with the meals they can’t wait to order again…and we’re excited to make them for you in our new space!”
The new and improved Pilgrims is a must-try for beachside brunch in Cronulla, or for take-away in Cronulla Park.
