Three-time GABS Hottest 100 winner, Mountain Culture Beer Co. had opened its fourth venue - the first in Melbourne.
This will be quickly followed by the launch of a new Hobart venue later this month, establishing Mountain Culture’s hospitality footprint in two new states.
"This was a big move for Mountain Culture. We started as a humble brewpub in the Blue Mountains and expanded to Sydney, but Melbourne is quickly catching up as our biggest market,” says co-founder and CEO DJ McCready.

"It’s never lost on us that the fans we first met in Katoomba are who built this brand into what it is today and we hope to build a community that’s just as strong in Melbourne now that we have an incredible venue in Richmond,” DJ says.
About the Mountain Culture Richmond Venue
"Richmond is a little slice of everything that's great about Melbourne”, says co-founder Harriet McCready. "Good coffee everywhere, footy just up the road, live music next door, dumplings around the corner. The brew pub is arguably one of the most beautiful venues in Melbourne and we are excited to open it up and throw a good old Mountain Culture party!”

The Menu
Mountain Culture will be serving all beers from its core range and limited release line-up, both on tap and in takeaways. This will include favourites like Status Quo Pale Ale, awarded best craft beer in Australia three years in a row, and two brand new beers that will be dropped every single Thursday.
The food menu will feature Australian pub favourites with a Mountain Culture twist. An onsite smoker will bring a slice of American BBQ heaven, while an extensive range of gluten-free, vegetarian and kids' meals will make sure everyone leaves happy.

The Background
Mountain Culture was founded by husband and wife, DJ and Harriet McCready, in 2019. Their first venue was in Katoomba, in the Blue Mountains, as Harriet and DJ are both hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts, so they wanted to combine all their passions in the mountains.
The brand grew in popularity so quickly that it needed to expand its operations to meet demand. It expanded into Emu Plains, NSW, where it operates both a taproom and the largest brewing site.
In 2024, Mountain Culture brought on its first-ever investor, Aussie cricket captain Pat Cummins, who was obsessed with the beer, as well as being a fan of the brand given they both originated from the Blue Mountains.

In 2024, the first venue in Sydney was launched at a cool location in Redfern and it has co-branded a venue with Wildflower Brewing called ‘Village’, which is based in Marrickville.
Now, the brand is expanding its hospitality and venue offering with a footprint in Melbourne and Hobart.
Mountain Culture has also won the GABS Hottest 100 for the past three consecutive years. A fun fact is that they have won every single year that they have entered.
Growing 40% year on year, renowned for doing things differently, creating market leading innovation and for their ability to bring younger drinkers to the category, Mountain Culture is fast becoming the dominant independent craft beer in the country.
