Bayside residents have welcomed a new local favourite, as Valarc Group launches Middle Park European on Armstrong Street in Melbourne.
The classic wine bar-bistro will feature an Italian and French-inspired menu in a laid back, yet refined setting. Middle Park European embraces the spirit of an all-day and night European wine bar, blending the building's heritage charm in the relaxed leafy streets of Middle Park.

Solid walnut elements, hand-shaped by a local boatbuilder add a sense of depth to the space, while imported Italian lights, natural stone and rustic tiles work together to create an atmosphere that transports guests straight to the heart of Europe.
Under the mentorship of renowned Chef Ian Curley (Kirks Wine Bar, French Saloon, Baix), the kitchen will be led by Head Chef Aaron Wrafter, whose experience spans some of the UK’s most respected kitchens, including The Venture Inn, as well as Michelin-starred Turners and Harborne Kitchen in Birmingham.
The simple and refined menu lists plates from small bites like crab with fennel on milk loaf to more substantial dishes and features handmade pasta, dry-aged steak and classic French desserts.

The drinks menu includes a curated selection of Australian, French and Italian wines, with offerings from Valarc’s own Sandhill Estate Wines in the Macedon Ranges, along with premium Champagnes and a cocktail list inspired by the group’s other venues.
Middle Park European is the latest passion project of local entrepreneur Matteo Bruno, owner of Valarc Group - the team behind popular venues like Richmond’s Tartine Bistro, Windsor’s Ines Wine Bar and Sistine, Melbourne’s The Meatball & Wine Bar and Ned’s Bake & Bistro.
Matteo, a film and television producer, was introduced to the world of food while producing a television series with renowned Italian Chef Stefano de Pieri, who has remained a friend and confidant of the group’s venues.

A proud Albert Park resident, Matteo created Middle Park European as a go-to spot for any day and time of the week to catch up with friends and enjoy some warm European hospitality.
"We wanted to create a place that feels like home for the community and surrounding suburbs, but also a destination worth visiting. Whether you're stopping by for a drink and some oysters at the bar or enjoying a more indulgent meal with friends, we aim to be a gathering spot that celebrates classic Italian and French cuisine in a relaxed, casual environment,” Bruno says.
Middle Park European marks the latest addition to Valarc Group's expanding portfolio of venues, following the anticipated launch of Sistine Cocktail Bar on Chapel Street in December 2024 and The Florence, slated to open on Flinders Lane in late 2025 as well as Bodega Alegria opening soon in Albert Park.
Middle Park European is open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner at 20 Armstrong Street, Middle Park, Victoria.
