How to Get Free Banh Mi and Vietnamese Iced Coffee All Morning!

There’s a hot new lunch spot in Melbourne which will be serving up hundreds of free banh mi and everyone’s invited!

Mark down Wednesday, February 28 in your calendar because Vietnam Airlines in collaboration with a cute new hole-in-the-wall lunch spot, Banh Mi Stand in the CBD, has created a one-day-only bespoke Banh Mi Bonanza menu taking inspiration from all across the world and the incredible destinations that Vietnam Airlines will be flying to from Melbourne – including Paris, London, Frankfurt and Delhi.

To mark the occasion, the banh mi will reflect flavours from each of these regions including a French-inspired banh mi filled with duck confit and orange plum sauce. Feeling German? No worries, you can always have the pork sausage, salted cabbage and crunchy chilli banh mi.  For the English there’s a prim and proper banh mi taking cues from the classic British Sunday roast, teaming rare roast beef with onion jam and for an Indian take, turmeric cauliflower with kasundi.

If you’re just feeling like traditional is best and are hankering for the mouth-watering OG version, then head on down anyway because the Vietnamese banh mi will be filled with Hanoi cha com, a pork and rice mix, served on Hai Phong pate.

To wash it down, Vietnamese iced coffee will be offered – also free! This is the perfect mid-week lunch, completely gratis! Doors open at 10 am and will be available to the first 200 visitors. The Vietnam Airlines Banh Mi Bonanza is in celebration of the airline’s Transit Tours of Vietnam.

Maybe you have never considered flying to Europe with Vietnam Airlines before. That's okay because it is relatively brand new to the market and has a great reputation behind it already. The best part of flying Vietnam Airlines from Melbourne to destinations in Europe and Asia is that passengers can take part in free Transit Tours of Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City when flying through Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) or Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC).

Vietnam Airlines Australia General Manager Nguyen Huu Tung says the free transit tours are an incredible opportunity to experience one of Asia’s most exciting, dynamic and vibrant countries, rich with history and boasting one of the world’s greatest cuisines.

"These tours offer passengers a taste of Vietnam, showcasing the very best of each city’s attractions and unique points of interest. The fully hosted tours include airport transfers, transport, attraction entry fees, refreshments and meals. For transit times longer than eight hours, hotel accommodation is also provided. Conditions may apply."
