Come to the Bark Side – 5 Dog-friendly Venues for a Paws-itively Good Time!

You know the drill…it’s time for Sunday brunch and your furry friend is giving you the evil eye knowing you are heading off for foodie fun.

Don’t despair, there are plenty of dog-friendly venues where you can say bone appetit to not only your own hunger but also your pooch’s.

Here are five of our faves for a pawsome time:

Come for a coffee, stay for the food at Fare and Square on Wellington Square in North Adelaide. More than just a café, it’s an experience at this well-loved local diner where you can enjoy the priceless view of the square from inside or out while perusing Adelaide’s best dog menu and all-day breakfast fare.

Perhaps order pup a furchino with lactose-free milk and a sprinkle of carob to go with Scooby Doo stew – chicken tenderloins, vegetables, brown rice and pumpkin purée – while you chow down on zucchini and ricotta fritters with a poached egg, bacon, avocado and sriracha aioli for a barking good breaky.

Gold Coast community-focused eatery, Oscar Italia on Varsity Parade is the place to head in Varsity Lakes for pizza, pasta and family-friendly dining. With a nod to owner Leisa’s favourite poet Oscar Wilde, this casual eatery offers mezzanine dining alfresco, while indoors, cosy velvet couches are ideal for overdue catch-ups, or chill-out in the hanging cane chairs with a drink of choice.

You are always welcome to pop in for a doggone good experience with your furry friends – there are even treats available to keep your pup satisfied while you enjoy a slice of gourmet pizza topped with Italian sausage, tomato, mozzarella, basil, capsicum, red onion and fried rosemary.

Sundays are fun days at Lane 32 Woodfired Pizza Maleny on Maple Street…bring your fur baby to enjoy the designated pet play area and let them socialise while you chill out with a cold drink and slice of pizza topped with roast chicken, BBQ sauce, mozzarella, bacon and caramelised onions.

There are free doggy biscuits for your best friend along with vegetarian pizza options for those going meat-free such as spicy BBQ pulled jackfruit, chipotle sauce, mozzarella, pineapple, Spanish onion, jalapeño and fresh coriander, or garlic and herb mushrooms with Grana Padano, olive oil and cracked pepper.

When brunch rolls around, head on over to Snag & Brown for a tasty bite to eat, located on Ekibin Road in Annerley. Rustic and retro inside, this cute little café gem is a warm mixture of rough timbers, bold and funky colours and cosy upholstered chairs with a fruit bowl on the counter throwing in a fresh touch and a cabinet full of tempting snacks sure to lure sweet-toothed visitors.

If dropping by with friends or your fur baby, linger over a scrumptious breakfast of Italian Benedict with beef and pork Bolognese sauce, poached eggs, Hollandaise, ciabatta, basil leaves and Parmesan, while your pooch socialises in the pet-friendly backyard and enjoys their own delicious puppucino.

This cosy café is the ideal gathering place to catch up with family, pooches and friends over delicious brunch offerings in a warm and welcoming vibe of white subway tiles, vibrant pink neon signage and trailing greenery.
