Cocktail of the Week from Le Bar Supper Club Mixologist Jai Singh.

Technically, it’s not drinking alone if the bartender is there!

You know the drill…it’s Friday afternoon and time to relax after a long and stressful work week.

What better way to chill out than with a cocktail at your favourite bar or restaurant? Alternatively, you could take the party home and concoct the perfect drink to usher in the weekend.

Welcome to our Cocktail of the Week series, where each Friday we will highlight a cheeky creation to tantalise tastebuds and set the tone for good times.

Entwining the romance of a Parisian soirée with the extravagant drama of a New York speakeasy, head to Le Bar Supper Club on North Concourse in Beaumaris for an experience beyond expectation. With an expansive gold-speckled granite bar, high-top tables and intimate booths, a night at this dining destination is truly one to remember; settle in under burnished gold glass chandeliers on plush jet-black velvet furniture to be transported back to an era of luxury, seductive live jazz, martinis and excessive glamour.

Head Mixologist and Sommelier, Jai Singh recommends trying the House of Coke cocktail – Le Bar’s take on one of the most famous drinks in the world. Before Coca-Cola, its inventor John Pemberton released Pemberton’s French Wine Coca which was a potent mix of wine and cocaine.

Prohibition led to the removal of the alcohol and the creation of Coca-Cola – luckily for guests Le Bar has added the alcohol back in and its cocaine-free cocktail based on the secret recipe, is served in an early 1900s Cola bottle.

"This incredibly unique combination of flavours is made with premium spirit theatrical presentation,” Jai says. "This cocktail perfectly captures the essence of prohibition – it is not a drink that you can find in just any bar.”
