Celebrate French Cuisine and 20 Years at Sofitel with Melbourne Chef John Savage.


With Bastille Day just around the corner, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins is partnering with renowned Melbourne Chef Philippe Mouchel to host a French-inspired four-course degustation menu with matched French wines at No.35 Restaurant.

Showcasing Sofitel Melbourne’s French heritage, this one-off culinary event on Monday, July 3 is part of Sofitel Melbourne on Collins ‘20 in 2023 Chef Series’ - a line-up of Chef collaborations in celebration of Executive Chef John Savage’s 20th year at Sofitel Melbourne. 

The two celebrated Chefs have used their savoir-faire to curate the ultimate French dining experience for just $190 per person, which includes a glass of Champagne on arrival and an amuse bouche of new season chestnut velouté, mushroom emulsion and prosciutto on toast.

From there, delve into an entrée of Hiramasa kingfish on potato blinis, yuzu vinaigrette, Yarra Valley salmon caviar and green onion compote followed by a main course of Rangers Valley Wagyu braised short rib, potato boulangère, celeriac Dijonaise with sauce Bordelaise; finished off with almond blanc manger, poached quince and speculos crumble. 
 
"It’s been a pleasure working with Philippe to create this special culinary event which not only showcases our French heritage but the fine art of French cooking. As Melbourne’s favourite French Chef, it made sense for us to join forces with Philippe for this one-off event in celebration of the upcoming Bastille Day,” John says.

"Together with John, we have curated a deliciously decadent menu that showcases French gastronomy with fresh seasonal and local produce in beautiful surroundings,” Philippe says.
