Expensive, but all food was superbly presented and delicious. Reasonable wine list. A must if you come to Hammo! SR.

Appetizers came from the kitchen (oysters natural, freshly baked rye bread, ricotta stuffed zuchinni flowers with a beautiful baby zuchinni attached - delicious). Superb presentation and well balanced flavours.
Main course - huge portion of steamed mussels with a divine homemade tomato sauce - fresh, clean flavours. Unforgettable.
Pan seared crispy skinned salmon with a light, fresh fennel risotto - to die for! One of the best salmon dishes this lady has had anywhere in the world! I have dined in all of the major cities in the world without exception and this simple dish was perfect.
A seat at the bar later for a small glass of something and when I said that I would have loved just a small square of chocolate (as I am alleric to cocoa and just wanted "one small square"); what came from the kitchen could well have been served up on the Riviera in France. I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the thoughtfulness displayed by the bar staff. Thank you.
The Chef was surprised when I sought him out to thank him with a handshake and my gratitude for a fabulous meal. He was an unassuming man who had done a great job with his team in the kitchen.
To top this review off is the comment that the meal was one of the most reasonably priced meals we had on the Island and the service was second to none (having eaten at 5 restaurants including "fine dining"). We were challenged in conversatin with the barman who unfortunately has now left the Island to study business. Wait staff were refined and accommodating with not a hint of snobbery. Wine list was average but well cellared.
Our gratitude for a unique dining experience, we will most definitely be revisiting Romanos again (given that it has survived Cyclone Yasi). Kindest regards to you all on Hamilton Island. I have had a truly memorable and unique experience.

The meal experience at Romanos on Hamilton Island was extraordinary given that it was not rated as a fine dining experience.
Staff greeted us with ease and all due care was taken with our request for a window seat. One was not available as they were preparing for the Cyclone, however our request was accommodated with spontaneous humour and good will. The only 'restaurant to offer a table past 7pm on the Island for the "final" meal prior to Cyclone Yasi evacuations - Category 5!!! A seat at the bar was offered for a cocktail whilst a table was prepared. We were seated again with a "fine dining" expertise at a table with an above average water view. Menus were presented and recommendations were made. Please bear in mind that this was not our FIRST choice for an evening meal as no one had ever recommended this establishment at any time during our stay!
