Enjoy fine dining on Launceston’s waterfront at the Chef Hat awarded Mudbar and Restaurant, situated at the Old Launceston Seaport. Patrons gather around the bar to enjoy views of the harbour through sleek floor to ceiling windows, while excited guests sink into dark chocolate toned cushioned seats under warm mood lighting. Opt for aperitifs at the elegantly designed bar, or go straight for an innovative menu where a range of Euro Asian fused cuisine is sure to awaken your senses. Enjoy a long lunch of Mirin tempura oysters before a plate of the sticky sugar, soy cooked pork fingers; or arrive later for a fixed priced dinner of two or three courses, offering tantalising mains like slow cooked lamb from the Mudbar farm, with fresh turmeric, coconut labneh, long beans and pumpkin.

Mudbar is the culmination of a lifetime spent running restaurants and creating award winning experiences for our customers. From our humble beginnings at Tidal Water in St Helens, to the creation of multi- award-winning Stillwater and ground breaking Black Cow, Mudbar and Restaurant is the evolution of a concept, a desire, a passion to deliver a food and wine experience that is simple and pleasing to our audience.

Mixing Asian flavours with contemporary and progressive Australian style, we've created fare that's designed to enjoy, to sink into, to satisfy in the most elegant possible way. The always busy and comfy Mudbar offers dining with flavours not too worked, but special, never the less. It's a mix of casual bar space and progressive modern Australian restaurant. The flavours are gentle, and it's not what you'd call 'worked' food, and it's not precise food; it has a casualness about it, but the preparation itself is not.

Our al fresco dining area is perfect for long summer evenings and the water views are a perfect accompaniment to your Mudbar experience. Live music is featured on Sunday afternoons from 3:15pm.

Our cellar is truly expansive, covering every wine making region in Australia; we specialise in Tasmanian wines, Pinot Noirs in particular. We have a hand-picked array of international wines for your enjoyment. Coupled with an expansive bar with a long cocktails list and our exclusive lager in a relaxed atmosphere, we've created a place for you to come and enjoy.

Absolutely gorgeous !! Service was impeccable, surroundings moody and comfortable, food was tantalising to the taste buds! We had Rabbit Tortellini, Nim Jim Squid, Pork Belly, Slow cooked Lamb Shoulder, Orange Brûlée and deconstructed Choc Pavlova ... could not fault ANY dish, simply sensational. LOVE Mud!!

The Mud Restaurant & Bar is located on the best site on the wharf at The popular Seaport Marina. The building is purpose built, ultra modern, the designer has created a great flow from bar, casual, private, to group dining, and lounge area's to relax, the flow continues through to a very large covered Al fresco area. The decor, ultra modern, very trendy, with the outstanding feature being, replica Eames chairs in bright orange, oh so comfortable. The architect has enabled the view of the Tamar, wharf, assorted boats, distant hills to be viewed from all points inside and out. From an excellent menu plus specials, our entree's were, Pressed lamb, gribiche sauce, grilled ciabatta. Unusual, delicate, and surprisingly tasty; Blue eye fish cakes, with fennel and aolia, rocket and lemon. Delicate and flavorsome. Mains: Pan fried gnocchi, braised lamb, tomato, olives, Parmesan. Quite hot, spicy and appetizing. One of their most popular dishes; From the specials board, Grilled lamb rump 200 gram, fresh from Landfall, a local farm. with crisp roast potatoes, steamed green beans and a ratatouille. fabulous dish, prepared to perfection, and of a generous proportion. We tasted the Smolt Pinot Noir, a very good Pinot. Also a New-Zealand Otago Jacks Skip Sauvignon Blanc. Excellent. The service was professional and friendly. This may not be fine dining, but certainly upmarket casual at it's best. Impressive.

During our stay at Peppers hotel with a 2 year old and pregnant wife we needed a night in although something to eat. Mud catered to this without fault and with much appreciation. The food was excellent considering it was virtually a take away and would only be better to eat in. Wine recommendation was also a winner, thank you all at Mud for bringing good food, service and sanity!
