Set in a beautiful moody tea-house esq. environment, the food is bold but traditional, exciting but familiar. The staff are available and engaged and the menu price is absolutely reasonable.
Having travelled from Perth for an extended weekend break we found Mr Wong to be the perfect meal for us to finish our stay with. We decided to try $90 banquet menu. Every course excelled the previous one we were served, from the spinach and ginger dumplings to the calamari and pork hock everything we were served was well flavored and balanced. I'm not usually a fan of desserts of Asian cuisine bug on this occasion the mango pudding, raspberry sorbet and vanilla bomb surpassed our expectations. Couldn't speak more highly of our meal this evening.
Awesome fit out - awesome food - just so expensive! Its a shame they don't make it a little more accessible price wise to the average punter - I think they would find that they would be much more busier - I would be there every week rather than special occasions. Great food though!
What an amazing experience! As a Chinese person I have to say that Mr Wong is a restaurant that all other Chinese restaurants should 'take a leaf' out of their book. The dishes had the best and freshest ingredients and were not over garnished as other oriental restaurants tend to do. The balance of flavours was definitely the highlight of the food. Service was outstanding as well. My waiter could speak English and Mandarin which helped immensely in choosing the dishes, since a lot of traditional Chinese dishes don't translate well into English. 2 thumbs up to Mr Wong.
Yum, Yum, Yum I was here on the opening weekend and it was amazing! The food was so fresh and flavoursome! I will be back especially with a kitchen that is open till 2am :)
