Just 15 minutes from Adelaide, overlooking the rolling patchwork of Piccadilly Valley, is Mount Lofty House, home to Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant. An elegant atmosphere awaits, styled with true refinement and opulence, where intimate seating is set with white linens, a dark oak bar, open fireplace and ambient lighting, creating a welcoming space where diners can expect magnificent views as an accompaniment to their culinary experience. Combining a menu of products locally sourced or grown onsite, Hardy’s Chefs use imagination and technique to create visually stunning plates like hiramasa kingfish, smoked soy dressing and pickled radish; before Wagyu tenderloin, red capsicum ketchup, smoked eggplant, bone marrow and olive jus, or BBQ Summer squash fondant, nasturtium and whipped feta.

Wonderful food and service with excessive wine margin
Had the wonderful 7 course tasting menu. The food and the service were all exceptional. Our wonderful Italian sommelier helped us navigate a very extensive wine list and managed to pick some wonderful wines for us. My only complaint were the excessive margins on the wines. Whilst I appreciate that restaurants like this do charge a premium for their wines, I felt in this case the margins were excessive and resulted in us choosing lessor wines than we would perhaps have liked to. However our sommelier did very well, although paying between $200 - $300 a bottle for wines that can be bought retail for between $60 and $100 left a bit of a bitter taste in our mouths. Would I go back? Well probably not because of the wine mark-ups, it spoilt for us what would have otherwise been a near perfect dining experience.
Perfection at its best
We decided to go with the 7 course set menu with premium wines and everything was impeccable.
The service was brilliant and Francisco was so knowledgeable in all the wines, food and overall he was an excellent sommelier.
Highly recommend, it’s such a romantic restaurant and good was second to none.

Superlative dining experience.
Even in these difficult times Hardy's Verandah Restaurant has not dropped its standard one quark. The food is astounding, imaginatively plated and a joy to consume; and the wine selection compliments the food beautifully...particularly when you go with the recommendations of the sommelier. All staff who have a hand from preparing to the final presentation at your table are an integral part of the dining experience. Every meal is a joyous occasion.
Incredible food & amazing atmosphere
I had the seven course degustation menu. The flavours were elegant and sophisticated, each course offered its own unique experience yet complimented each other in both their novelty and pallete.
The servers read the table incredibly well, and were very warm. We went for recommended wines over the pairing and enjoyed some incredible red wines with our meal.
If you are looking for any kind of special evening you will not be disappointed. There are also in house rooms to stay and a bar with some generous and delicious cocktails.
Absolutely will be coming here again!
The most friendly, professional service and amazing food. Mount Lofty house itself and the views are just stunning. The atmosphere is so welcoming. My most favorite place.

What an experience. For our Wedding anniversary and last Xmas. Could have been in a Michelin Star restaurant in Paris or New York. We’ve booked again to celebrate our 40th Aniversary in January - can’t wait!

The accommodation is lush and comfortable. The restaurant and bar magnificent. The thing that pulls thids magical place together is the staff who are very knowledgeable in the field of hospitality. We will be back soon.
