The Hungry Surfer

With hair still dripping after carving up Marcoola Beach, surfers venture inland to drop in for something nourishing at The Hungry Surfer, waiting 200 metres from the breakers on Merchants Parade. Wooden benches and comfy pillows welcome hungry families, newcomers and of course those with a board in tow to the shady refuge for café fare with a twist of Australian modernity by the beach. Smaller sun bleached surf aficionados reach for locally made gelato as do their guardians, while others investigate the menu’s range of tasty vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. To satiate the ultimate wave induced hunger, sample a Mega Chicken Burrito with Mexican salsa, cheese and rice bean mix wrapped in a tortilla, or bring in the rest of the troupe for a Hangten barbecue chicken and bacon pizza.
