Light Bright Modern Bistro The Barker has been recently extended and renovated to the highest standard. A very unusual high dome ceiling made of natural wood. Sliding doors open out to a very large alfresco dining area, which faces out to the tree lined main street. Orders are taken at the bar, rather than waitress service. We found the menu extensive and interesting, including Thai, Moroccan, Pizza, Pasta, shared tasting board, steaks etc. Our choices were the chefs pasta special of the day, and from the menu Morrocan chicken salad. Both choices were absolutely delicious. The dishes were well presented and of a very generous size, great value. The Barker Hotel won the 2011 Hotel Awards, in Best Bistro Dining, Best Redeveloped Hotel, Best Bar Presentation and Service, in the Country Hotels category. All well deserved. With friendly and attentive service, it was a very enjoyable culinary experience.
