About Sarti

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, Sarti emerges as one of the city’s most exciting and inventive dining establishments. The main dining area oozes effortless Italian cool; dark wooden floors create a rich warm vibe that is appealing and inviting. A rich red feature wall ignites the room, creating a buzz akin to that of a fine espresso – a perfectly prepared Italian creation for your pleasure. Begin with starters of fritto misto – calamari, soft shell crab, white bait, zucchini and chilli tartare, or perhaps the crudo ricciola – Hiramasa kingfish with lime, fennel, tomato and horseradish snow. Mains delight with the likes of braised veal, free range spatchcock, ravioli, gnocchi and Cone Bay barramundi, while finishing with the Chef’s five-layer hot and cold tiramisu is a must.

A few words from Sarti

In a central CBD location off Little Collins St, Sarti is situated upstairs from one of Melbourne's intriguing laneways. Among other things, Sarti boasts one of the city's only outdoor dining areas with an alfresco terrace that is in high demand for diners both during the summer and cooler months.

With an all-Italian team comprising of Manager and Director Joe Mammone, together with Co Partner and Restaurant Manager Michael Badr, the two share a long history working/managing high profile restaurants and a combined experience of nearly 30 years in the industry. They have now welcomed new Head Chef, Paolo Masciopinto to their team.

Their unified message of pushing the boundaries of Modern Italian cuisine with a lean towards game foods, their partnership explains the magic that happens at Sarti.

All dishes at Sarti are meticulously developed and carefully prepared from produce of the highest quality available.
Within a vibrant and social bistro setting, the menu favours a long list of Stuzzichini (small dishes or tasting plates typical of Southern Italy), which have now become a specialty for the Melbourne eatery.

The menu is well-suited to groups or diners with inquisitive palettes and in fact (and in true Italian fashion), any item from the menu may be encouraged to be shared when among large groups so that everyone may join in on the experience.

Recently, Sarti proudly accepted for the sixth time, the hard earned accreditation of a "One Hat" in the renowned Age Good Food Guide Awards 2015.

Sarti is a restaurant dedicated to providing a memorable Italian dining experience that pushes the limits of tradition, is sophisticated and remains true to Italian origins

A wonderful Thursday night spent at Sarti. This place really buzzes. The food and service was service was impeccable with a contemporary take on traditional Italian dishes. Don't hesitate to visit. You won't be disappointed.

New Chef but still great! One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne.

My boyfriend and I were given a gift voucher to dine at Sarti and enjoyed a dining experience that will stay with me for a long time. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, the ambience was just right and each of the many dishes we had was exceptional. Can't wait to return.

I never would have found this amazing restaurant if the hotel staff hadn't given me directions for Sarti. It is well worth hunting down, as the food is outstanding and made me rethink about the way I discuss Italian food. Sarti proves that Italian cuisine can be sculpted into a fine-dining menu; away from the easy connotation of it being just a comfort-food cuisine.
My wife and I loved Sarti and would love to go back - if we could find it.

Best meal my partner and I have ever had. Riccardo is an amazing chef! Love his beautiful work. My favourite restaurant!

Great meal! The degustation was well timed and paced, portion sizes were perfect. Highlights were the scallop (magnificent) and the ocean trout (again, magnificent). Both were prepared in such a way that the natural flavour and texture of the food was supported by, and not overpowerd by other ingredients. Chef did a great job catering to my partner's vegetarian requests. Made a special occasion very, very special. Relaxed atmosphere. Great for special occasions :-)

Sensational restaurant! Food and service are both excellent. Worth every cent and a generous tip as well. The Eggplant Ripieni recipe they have posted is fantastic and really easy to make at home but it's not quite the same. Do yourself a favour, Go!
