Churrasco: char-grilled butterflied Porterhouse steak, served with salted potato, guacamole, salad and chimichurri.
Melburnians now have a new Colombian dining destination with the opening of El Toucan South Central on Victoria Street in Abbotsford. Sister venue to El Toucan in Maribyrnong, this new restaurant has a relaxed vibe of polished wood floors and panelling, while the walls are adorned with vibrant artwork depicting toucans. El Toucan delivers an authentic menu from breakfast to dinner with the aim of putting Colombian food on the Australian map; expect early offerings such as huevos pericos – free-range scrambled eggs, diced tomato and onion sofrito, arepa and avocado. Those dining later may start with beef empanadas, cassava chips, criolla potatoes, pork bites and chipotle mayo; before mains of char-grilled chicken breast, topped with chimichurri sauce, served over a fresh garden salad.
