About Chop Chop Chang's

For honest street food found in temple stalls and hawker markets throughout Asia, West End foodies head to Chop Chop Chang’s on Boundary Street in Brisbane. Like good times, the food is better shared at this family-friendly restaurant with an industrial feel of polished concrete floors, cheery yellow accents and high stools to perch on at the bar while sipping a cocktail. With a mural of uber-cool astro chimp Chop Chop Chang on the wall, who became the first chimp to travel in space, check out a menu plating up choices like half-shell scallops with miso butter and shredded nori; before twice-cooked, sticky beef short rib with Thai herbs and nahm jim, or jungle curry with wild-caught snapper, snake beans, cherry tomato and scud chilli. Those dining in groups may opt for the banquet option.

This is the kind of place where your night can go one of two ways- the staff can get you in and out very quickly if that's what you're after. Other wise install yourself in the repurposed bank vault and settle in. The staff are happy to pace the rate of food leaving the kitchen, which means there is plenty of time to try everything. Our highlights were the son in law eggs: whole fried eggs served with the most incredible sweet chilli jam. We loved the barramundi bowl: the broth was rich and soothing and exactly what we were after. The service is thoughtful and efficient, the staff are knowledgable and happy to guide you through the vast menu. This is an exciting place to see open in West End, I can't recommend it more highly and I am eager to see Chop Chop Chang's become a power player in the Boundary St dining scene.

very small serves, a better duck curry can be had at any Thai restaurant, caramelised pork was very good, prawn & corn cakes disgusting, other items ok, rice TOO expensive. Enjoyable, but I wont be back.
