For a little slice of France in the heart of Daylesford, locals rendezvous at Bistro Terroir on Howe Street. This sophisticated neighbourhood bistro is the place to savour fine fare, paired with a carefully selected drinks menu, whether stopping by for a quick catch-up, an extended liaison or private indulgence. Dark wooden floors and exposed brick create a warm, welcoming vibe as diners bask in abundant natural light at white-clothed tables and ponder starters such as tempura snails, sauce verte, garlic cream and croutons, or duck liver mousse, duck fat and white chocolate glaze, pickled rhubarb and pistachios. For the plat principal, delve into Sher Wagyu rump, café Paris butter, house-cut fries and sides of roasted Brussels sprouts and roast pumpkin, enjoyed with a glass of red.

It always pays to give a new restaurant a second chance
We re-visited Bistro Terroir recently and were impressed with how well it has settled in. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and efficient - a great night overall. Well done to Matt and his team - a welcome addition to Daylesford's already wonderful food scene


French at it’s Best
Located in Daylesford Bistro Terroir is truely amazing. Chef Matthew Carnell has created an authentic french bistro, in the style of it’s menu, modern decor, french music playing in the background and a relaxed atmosphere. Staff are attentive and professional. My wife and I have dined on several occasions selecting mouth watering dishes ranging from Oysters, House Charcuterie, Mussels, Braised lamb shoulder, Steak frittes or Steak Tartar for Dessert we have had Creme brûlée, seasonal Peach Melba or a Cheese plate. I highly recommend Bistro Terroir when in Daylesford
