Basically; great romantic atmosphere, good mains, horrible desserts, average service- wouldn't go back. - I actually think some of the reviews are from people who work there, just to increase their rating!!!! Balthazar... hmmmmm.. well if you want my totally honest opinion; the guy who served us, i think it might be the manager, was just too weird. Like creepy, a little rude, arrogant and way too casual for such a nice place- when we knew what we wanted to order for dessert but he stated "I already know what you want, but you have to practice the proper way to order". I was a tad offended. The atmosphere was great! I loved the setting, it was a tad too dark on our table because the light above us was broken and they hadn't put a candle on our table or anything. The food was ok/ good. The lamb was cooked to perfection along with the potatoes and carrots (which were a side dish)! But what I care about most of all was the dessert.. its my favourite part of any meal...And I hate to say it.. but it sucked. I got the banana cake, which was moist, but the yoghurt with it was wayyyyyyyyy to sour, and my boyfriend got the panna cotta, which is the worst one I've ever tasted. The flavours of the panna cotta dessert did not seem to be in harmony at all. Totally should have left after the main, but the rest was good. I don't think I would go there again though.
Cosy atmosphere, an interesting and unusual menu. Well prepared and presented.
