I really cannot recommend this winery highly enough - in fact I would have to say by far the gem of all of the great wineries the Clare Valley has to offer.
From the moment you enter the cosy cellar door you are made to feel welcome. Sometimes you may even be lucky enough for Matilda the cat to greet you at the entrance, gorgeous girl that she is.
The wines at Crabtree are all of a high quality. Not normally a riesling drinker I find the Watervale Riesling to be exceptionally pleasant on the palate. Along with their Arriviste (a Chardonnay Viognier blend)these are now my 2 favourite whites. The zibbibo is also worthy of a mention as is the Grand Muscat. They dont do a bad Shiraz either but personally found it a little on the soft side.
In any case dont pass through the valley without a stop here, you'll be doing yourself a great dis-service.
