Bringing the bright flavours and exhilarating atmosphere of Barcelona to the heart of Melbourne’s inner east, Tinto on Burwood Road in Hawthorn offers a relaxed setting for people to meet and eat. With a long Spanish-style bar and dining area, as well as alfresco footpath eating and a small courtyard, Tinto is the ideal place for a catch-up with family and friends over a cerveza or vino, while grazing on delicious tapas. During chilly months, cosy up next to the gas log fire while snacking on chorizo with cider reduction, peas and prunes, or deep-fried squid, tempura saltbush and aioli. Perhaps share larger plates like aromatic lamb meatballs, tomato salsa and whipped feta, with roasted cauliflower and green beans; or traditional paella, with saffron rice, sofrito, chicken and chorizo.

Elite service
I have to mention that was eye wateringly expensive. That slight criticism aside, the level of service I doubt I have experienced better anywhere in the world. Friendly, attentive and looked after my painful eating habits/allergies. This establishment is a must visit.
Great event space
We had a wonderful corporate Event at Tinto in July 2022. Hans and his team created a great vibe, served delicious food and wonderful mocktails, wine and sangria. Many thanks!
Exceeded our expectations!
Clever cocktails, good winelist, wonderful staff - and the food was excellent. My Spanish born wife was positively glowing with praise. Perhaps a liiiiiitle more Alioli with some courses but not a problem. I don't want to highlight any particular course/tapas/main because they were all really good. We left planning which friends to take there soon!

The food as always was fresh and delicious, great flavours
The service lacked warmth- I don’t appreciate being greeted with ‘oh you’re early’ - yes we are 10 mins early- but perhaps a greeting and offer of drink at the bar may have been more appropriate then told to ‘wait over there’ and then she disappeared- service was frantic and harried. Subsequent staff members was engaging and friendly but first impressions count.

Brilliant Food and Service
My Valencian friend and I had a great evening. The wine menu was comprehensive and selection was well thought through. The food menu was superb; the authenticity and variety of Spanish dishes were on point. Will definitely be back again.

The squid-ink seafood paella is a must have. Fresh seafood with the chef's magic touch makes it a real special dish. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a wonderful, friendly Spanish chef in Nacho, making it all the more worth visiting.

Best Spanish restaurant
Two years ago, I was to Melbourne from Barcelona. During my stay, I visited this restaurant twice, and both were great dining experiences with very elaborate and tasty typical Spanish dishes, like seafood Paella, Patatas Bravas, croquettes and calamari. I recommend it.

Some of the best dishes i've ever eaten. The duck fat fried bread with smoked butter and anchovy was incredible as were all the dishes. Service fantastic as well and nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Authentic Spanish Food
We are from Barcelona (Spain), ??and when we visited Melbourne last year we went to this restaurant for dinner. The dishes we tried (Spanish omelette, crisp-fried Australian squid, cod croquettes, barramundi suquet, and crema Catalana ...), were perfectly cooked. The best Spanish cuisine restaurant in Melbourne, without a doubt.
This place is just gorgeous... staff are warm, attentive and friendly, the ambience is cosy and inviting and the dishes are well executed, flavoursome and prepared with great care.

Probably the best Spanish tapas I have tried in Australia. I met one of the chefs whilst dining there and he told me this is just the start and they have yet to reach their full potential. So will definitely be back to see this place grow.
