Escape to the bliss of The Balcony Restaurant, perched above Flinders Street in the heart of Townsville. A heritage building has been the home of this restaurant for more than 30 years; a timber staircase takes you up to a quirky space above where a relaxed vibe allows chilling out from the hustle and bustle of below. Take a seat on the tiled balcony bordered by fretwork to peruse an all-day breakfast and lunch menu dishing up temptations like eggs baked in spicy chilli, tomato Napoli, roast capsicum, shallot and garlic sauce with sourdough. Pair a chilled glass of wine with lunch choices of grilled crispy skin salmon, mashed potatoes, asparagus, capers, Hollandaise, dill and lemon, or Thai green chicken curry, vegetables and rice. Finish indulgently with a chocolate brownie and ice cream.

4 adults, 2 kids, all enjoyed delicious breakfast yesterday. Total range of meals from chilli eggs, to avo sourdough, to Belgian waffles. Everything was perfect. Love the choices of sides meaning if you want a delicious meal but not too huge…it’s all yours. Great service all round. Will definitely go back.

I have only been here for breakfast, the big breakfast is not for the feint hearted so be warned, its pretty big, the breakfasts are lovely and im sure we will be back again in the coming months to try the lunches.
