Succulent seafood and sparkling sea views await diners at Steamers Bar and Grill on Marine Drive in Wollongong. A blue and white nautical theme with hanging brass lanterns and blond wood furniture, evokes memories of oceanside holidays, while the aroma of wood-smoked meat sets taste buds salivating. Lunch on the terrace with City Beach and Wollongong Lighthouse on the horizon, is an ideal spot to sip a wine, while enjoying wood-fired chilli salted calamari, roasted garlic aioli and chilli jam. For the main, be swept away with braised pork belly, caraway, honey and lime glaze, roast sweet potato, leek and beetroot mess; or peri peri chicken, charred corn and herb salsa, saffron, coconut and lime pilaf. Finish indulgently with a dessert of limoncello tiramisu, mascarpone and lemon curd.

In Oct 2022, the restaurant won the award for best "Contemporary Australian Restaurant – Informal" at the 2022 NSW Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence, their 3rd win in as many years, and cementing Steamers Bar & Grill as one of the best restaurants of its type in Wollongong and the Illawarra region.
Steamers Bar & Grill also won this award in 2019 and enjoyed more success with a silver medal at the national restaurant awards in the same year.
The food menu has been crafted to enable guests to explore the street food scene from around the world and delivers a wide range of small and large plates inspired by cuisines from all over the world. And similarly, Steamers has an extensive beverage selection, allowing guests or our staff to assist in pairing meal choices with a drink to make even more of the Steamers experience.
The restaurant name gains inspiration from the precinct's food history. When the Illawarra was first settled, fresh produce was transported to Belmore Basin, before being loaded onto steamships bound for Sydney's growing population. Both the organic and local character of the menu, along with the nautical styling of the décor is a nod to this industrial period, updated with a chic, contemporary twist.
