Breakfast classics by day, transforming into a relaxed neighbourhood wine bar by night, offering curated wines and share plates.
About The Balfour Kitchen
Escape the bustle of the city at charming and serene The Balfour Kitchen on Balfour Street in New Farm. Set in a beautiful Queenslander, guests can dine on the verandah, enjoy relaxed gatherings under frangipanis in the courtyard, or cocktails on the rooftop bar, as the sun sets over the Storey Bridge. Serving edgy modern Vietnamese-inspired cuisine with a French twist, the menu delivers fresh, light and punchy flavours, along with vegan and vegetarian options. Start with kingfish, leek nuoc cham and a rice cracker, or chicken and duck terrine with pickled carrot emulsion and croute; before larger plates of Vietnamese fish cakes with herbs and XO sweet chilli sauce, or pho-spiced lamb ribs with herb coconut yoghurt and sides of charred broccolini and thrice-cooked chats.
A few words from The Balfour Kitchen
Located in the heart of New Farm and just moments from the Story Bridge and Howard Smith Wharves, The Balfour Kitchen & Bar at Spicers Balfour Hotel offers a dining experience that feels relaxed yet refined.
Once celebrated for its French-Vietnamese influence, The Balfour Kitchen & Bar now embraces Contemporary Australian cuisine and has evolved into a welcoming breakfast spot and a neighbourhood wine bar.
By morning, enjoy relaxed daily breakfasts and weekend brunches featuring classic dishes, fresh coffee, and signature brunch cocktails in a welcoming Queenslander setting.
As evening falls, the space transforms into an intimate wine bar, where sophisticated share plates, premium charcuterie, artisan cheeses, and playful chef-crafted dishes are paired with curated French and Australian wines. Guests can dine inside, alfresco on the verandah, or in the fairy-lit courtyard, all set within a stylish space featuring heritage details, rich textures, and eclectic décor.
The rooftop bar offers stunning views of the Brisbane skyline, available for private events, celebrations, or intimate gatherings. The kitchen champions sustainable seafood, ethically sourced meats, and seasonal produce from local suppliers, delivering approachable yet refined dishes such as saku tuna with watermelon and lime or wild kangaroo salami with house pickles.
With classic cocktails, craft spirits, and refreshing non-alcoholic options, The Balfour Kitchen & Bar is the perfect destination for breakfast, brunch, or an evening of relaxed, sophisticated dining close to Brisbane's iconic riverside attractions.
