About Short Grain by Martin Boetz
Expect modern Asian cuisine on the plate at Short Grain by Martin Boetz on Marshall Street in Fortitude Valley. This Brisbane restaurant delivers a warm and inviting space, set within the beautiful brick walls of a heritage-listed building, formerly a clothing factory and Asian food store. Banquette seating runs the length of the room under large windows and the walls feature modern art by Vicki Lee Lee, bathed in natural light. Wooden tables are minimally set until they fill with fragrant Thai-inspired dishes Chef is known for; begin with crispy soft-shell crab, green mango, mint, roasted rice and tamarind dressing. For the main, delve into braised duck massaman curry with potato, onion, peanuts and blood orange juice, or caramelised pork hock, fried garlic, eschalots and chilli vinegar.
