Great Pub Feed...
After riding from Sydney to Mudgee for an overnight stay, we picked the Oriental Hotel as our accommodation venue and also had dinner here. We really enjoy pub food and were not looking for the fanciest restaurant, instead good pub feed at a good price. We both liked the same dish and we were eating together so decided to or single meals for the two of us. Starting with a Cob Loaf with sundried tomato butter, this was amazing. So nice and fresh, very warm and the sundried tomato butter was a great change from the standard garlic starters, even for someone that is not a huge fan of sundried tomato. For a main we had the Crumbed Lamb Cutlets with creamy garlic sauce. As we were sharing, i went to the order line with the intent of seeing if i could be a pest and ask for an extra cutlet or two, half expecting some resistance. But instead i was greeted straight away with a response and the price for extra cutlets... which suited us just fine, rather than paying another whole meal, which we knew we would not finish both. The cutlets were great, better than your average pub food, sauce was great also (there was a choice of different sauces). The meal was also quite big so we chose right to simply add the extra cutlets and share the meal. Both the meals came out in a very timely manner.. being a pub and also being a busy Saturday night and a function in the function room.. we half expected a wait, since it took at least 10minutes waiting in line to place the order to begin with. But the Cob Loaf was actually bought out within 10 minutes, and served as an entree prior to the main (we thought they would just both come out together), which was great. Then not too much longer until the main was served. We sat outside to eat and it was a bit busy but nothing unusual. It was a family friendly atmosphere and no over powering loud music. The value was great..for the food being served. It is not your $5 pub meal style food, it is very good pub feed and very decent serving sizes, so
