Went here two weeks ago on a Saturday night for the first time. There were two of us, and I booked ahead, as apparently it gets very busy especially in the upstairs grill section. I'd heard really good things, and I definately wasn't dissapointed!
Once upstairs, a small rustic grill was placed on the table and we ordered raw plates of meat and vegetables to grill ourselves. There's a selection of sauces (japanese bbq, hot miso mayonaise, sukiyaki to name a few), plus black sesame seeds so you can mix and match to your tastes for dipping your grilled items in. The plates of meat were very good quality and sliced nice and finely so that it doesn't take long to grill. It ranges from $5-9 a plate for chicken/beef/pork. They also have seafood plates, which we didn't order. It was lots of fun grilling our own food, though it does get a bit hot and smoky sometimes if you don't watch your grilling technique!
We ordered dessert of green tea pudding with green tea icecream and another scoop of black sesame ice cream. The desserts were divine and so refreshing after the saltiness of the sauces we'd used for dipping the grilled food.
The staff were excellent - attentive, and once food was ordered, it appeared very quickly.
I'd highly recommend this place - for the two of us, plus drinks, it was $55 total bill - and we were well and truly stuffed with food!
