Nestled in an old guesthouse dating back to 1902, this traditional English restaurant on Mount Dandenong Tourist Road is all elegance with dark wood furniture, a moody colour palette and Britannia memorabilia scattered throughout. In colder months, cosy up by the gaslit fire with a glass of red and a retro prawn cocktail, with Rosemarie sauce, avocado, cucumber and fresh lemon; before confit duck leg, chat potatoes, braised red cabbage and berry jus. Perhaps King salmon Wellington hits the mark, with cheese, herbs and spinach in light puff pastry, on a rocket, fennel and orange salad with dill beurre blanc.
