About Cycles at The Empire
Housed within the iconic Empire Hotel on Emu Bay Road in Deloraine — the tallest building in town since circa 1900 — Cycles at The Empire is a café by day and restaurant by night, steeped in the rich and wonderfully colourful history of one of northern Tasmania's most beloved landmarks. The name pays tribute to AJ Fowler's bicycle factory that once occupied the hotel's corner in 1917, crafting well-regarded Fowler bicycles exported as far as Melbourne. That same spirit of quality, craft and community lives on at Cycles today. The seasonal menu celebrates the natural cycles of northern Tasmania — quality local produce prepared with care and served in a casual, friendly atmosphere that has always welcomed outsiders, locals, travellers and even old hippies with equal warmth.
