Lovely steak cooked to our requested “well done” & “medium” & the seafood topper was very nice with 2 prawns & 2 sea scallops in white wine sauce. Only got one drink each then didn’t check if we wanted any extra drinks or dessert & a bottle of water on the table would’ve been appreciated also but that wasn’t offered. Very busy night but that seems to be the normal crowd each time we passed by. I’d maybe rate it an 8 out of 10 for the night.
Lovely lunch in Hervey Bay
I Goggled restaurants in Hervey Bay and selected Cafe Balaena for their location and for their great menu. The seafood dishes we had were beautifully cooked, well presented and tasted great. Dean was a bubbly, attentive host and the service was second to none. We would have no hesitation in recommending Cafe Balaena to our friends and returning sometime in the future when next in Hervey Bay.
Not Recommended
Friend and myself ate here this morning for Breakfast and now at luchtime we are both feeling ill. The only thing we had in common was the bacon, and both of us commented that it did not taste good. Well we are paying for it now. Serving size was disappointing especially given that they send it out on a massive plate. Coffee was ok, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. It's a shame because the menu was interesting and the harbour setting is lovely. Price was reasonable.
Short changed!
Lovely outlook and ambience but my favourite breakfast (Eggs Benedict) was decidedly ungenerous. One small, thin piece of toast, meager bacon and sauce. What a pity. As a new local I planned to breakfast there regularly but I will try somewhere else now.
We have dinned on a Wednesday
I eat here everytime I am in town. Great outlook and beautiful food (especially love the breakfast)
