Hunter Valley Region Overview

The heart of New South Wales wine country, the Hunter Valley is situated two hours north of Sydney, a region renowned for world class food, wine and a majestic ambiance of quaint, historic surrounds. A few words from Hunter Valley Region

Newcastle is the largest city in the Hunter Valley region, situated at the mouth of the Hunter River, which flows south from Muswellbrook. An outdoor playground, the Hunter region is home to a variety of activities including horse riding, golf and hot air ballooning, alongside an abundance of historical sites and breathtaking scenery.

One of the oldest wine regions in Australia, the Hunter Valley produces a wide variety of grapes, including Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Verdelho. With around 50 wineries in the Lower Hunter alone, you can be guaranteed a walk through the vineyards is never too far away. Accompanied with local delicacies of bread, cheese and chocolate, indulgence is inevitable, where you will be spoilt for choice amongst eateries and luxury accommodation services.

Autumn is the best time in which to make the trip to the Hunter Valley, as it's natural splendor blossoms in hues of red, orange, brown and gold. Towns around the Hunter Valley Region thrive with a burst of fresh autumn air and a gathering of visitors to the area, with a number of events and attractions in each.
