At Bangkok is located in the Capitol Square building, conveniently next door to the Capitol Theatre. The food was of great variety. We tried Yum Pla Foo, which is a deep fried, crispy catfish with green mango salad. (It's not too spicy). We also had baked rice in pineapple (Khao Ob Sapparod), absolutely divined. For dessert we ordered a Coconut Dumpling (Kha-nom Kho) - they're soft balls of dough and coconut meat and raw sugar, and was served in a tasty coconut sauce. And all of these for less than $50!! I personally like its mural painting on both walls - a mixture of Thai/Indian myth creatures (like Naga). Definitely will pay a visit again.

At Bangkok Restaurant Overview

Sydney’s love affair with Thai food has spawned countless Thai restaurants, though few serve the sort of authentic inspired dishes you’ll find at At Bangkok Restaurant. Located in Capitol Square and open until late, this fresh, funky and casual venue sports low orange stools, beige banquettes and striking motifs splashed across two opposite walls. Even more vibrant are At Bangkok Restaurant's dishes, mainly southern and north-eastern Thai specialties ranging from Bangkok style Tom Yum soup with prawns and mushrooms, through to the fragrantly steamed barramundi topped with a housemade sauce of lemon, garlic, coriander and chilli. For a lively wok tossed feast, don’t go past tender barbeque duck, stir-fried in an aromatic curry paste with Thai eggplant, bamboo shoots and peppercorn.

Best Known For

Yum Pla Foo: crispy minced ling fish topped with green apple salad, cashew nut, mints and Thai herb dressing with garlic, chilli and lemon juice.
