Set in lush rainforest near Maleny in Sunshine Coast’s Hinterland, award-winning The Tamarind Restaurant offers stylish Mod Oz dining infused with contemporary Asian twists. Executive Chef Daniel Jarrett is the force behind this restaurant, where an elegant open timber pavilion design allows guests to soak up the region’s stunning natural surrounds. Composed of a la carte, degustation and banquet options, Tamarind’s ever-changing menu excites with Asian flavours and techniques combined with effortless style and innovation. Expect dishes like cured ocean trout, yuzu kosho crème fraiche, furikake, wakame and caviar, or Koji marinated beef tataki, oyster, daikon, wasabi, miso mustard and black beer ponzu; followed by an indulgent white chocolate parfait, black sesame, passionfruit and mango.

Discover everything you ever wanted to know about this exciting cooking style, from where to find the right ingredients, to creating the perfect Thai curry, then savour every mouthful of your very own creation. Daniel's passion for this cuisine is infectious; his knowledge and understanding of ingredients, techniques and the balance of flavours are effectively conveyed through his relaxed and informal approach. Each intimate class of up to 12 includes 5 recipes plus lunch, wine, Tamarind Cooking School apron, and full recipes.

We both had the degustation menu, and it was excellent. Any restaurant in Europe would be awarded a Michelin star with this standard of food and service
