The Standard is one of the few places that seems to modernise a range of cuisines nicely, with balanced flavours however probably tends to suit a very mild palate that can't tolerate chilli. The presentation of the food and surroundings are lovely, however I found the staff a little too attentive and kept returning every few minutes to ask if you had decided or if you wanted something else, which I found to be a bit pushy and let down the venue. The food was lovely though, the butterfish in the curry was overcooked and it was a bit bland however the quail croquettes were generous and the cocktails beautiful. I'd definitely come back for drinks.
