For more than a century, The McIvor hotel on McIvor Highway in Kennington has been serving locals and visitors cold beer and pub fare with flair. In chilly months cosy up by the fire on one of the leather Chesterfield couches in rustic surrounds; or during balmy months take to The Secret Garden out back for a cocktail catch-up with friends and family. From chicken parmas to perfectly cooked steak, there is something to tempt all tastes; perhaps a mixed grill of steak, bacon, sausage, egg, rissole, onion, tomato and beer-battered chips hits the mark, washed down with an icy pot of ale. The signature golden cob is a surefire way to beat hunger pangs – think a crusty cob loaf, stuffed with chorizo, onion and bacon – or delve into finger-lickin' good lamb ribs, with chips and salad.
