Best Known For
Seared kangaroo fillet, seasoned with salt bush and mountain pepper, maple glazed Brussel sprouts, fondant potato and rosella jus.
Hidden among Lismore’s laneways, The Loft on Nesbitt Lane offers a dining experience reminiscent of Melbourne’s inner-city culture. Nestled in a former industrial building and spread over two levels, a cosy bar downstairs spills out into the laneway while a mezzanine area sets an intimate setting for dinner with someone special, beneath a wall mural depicting a child and bird. Under the ambient glow of pendent lights, take a seat at rustic tables and peruse a Mod Oz menu, offering starters such as seafood ravioli, grilled prawns, seafood bisque and crispy capers; before a main affair such as marinated pork fillet, mushroom en croute, glazed apples, potato puree and jus roti. For a sweet finish, try chocolate cremeux, bacon infused ice cream, chocolate puff pastry and seasonal fruit.
A few words from The Loft
Located in the lane ways off Magellan Street, The Loft is one of the Lismore's premier eateries boasting exquisite food, relaxed atmosphere and extensive wine list. Enjoy the cosy, intimate atmosphere while watching the chef's work from any table. The Loft offers 'Modern Australian Cuisine' with a European influence that has built a strong and enviable reputation for its intimate setting, unpretentious food and personable service.
History of The Loft:
The Loft originated from a building which was originally part of A.G. Robinsons (AGR's) department store which supplied a broad range of products to the locals. It eventually became 'The Loft' in the late nineties and has enjoyed various reincarnations under this name. The latest makeover occurred in 2009 and there it was created, a venue for people to go to relax and enjoy creative food with quality beer and wine.
About The Loft:
This latest concept of this fully licensed restaurant is about the unashamed enjoyment of cooking with a sense of real pleasure. The menu aims to source quality ingredients that are in season and produced as locally as possible. The general idea being that guests can choose as many dishes as they like (without necessarily having a main meal) and are sent up at intervals so you diners can relax, share a bottle of wine from the list and enjoy this dining concept. The menu has been designed as an introduction to 'Australian free style cuisine' and to the joy of share plate dining.
The Loft Menu:
Enjoy an exquisite menu at The Loft whether it's for breakfast lunch or dinner. Breakfast options include hazelnut and garlic sautéed mushrooms on toast or a toasted croissant with smoked ham and cheese. If stopping by for lunch be sure to try the Salt ‘n' pepper squid burger with lettuce, onion, tomato topped with honey garlic aioli served with a side of chips.
The dinner menu will be sure to satisfy all tastebuds with an extensive entrée, main and dessert options as well as many share plate options. Signature dishes include for entrée a share plate of crock of steamed mussels with saffron butter & chorizo followed by a main course of french duck, traditional confit leg, star anise & saffron braised julienne carrot, snow peas and kipfler potatoes. Dessert options include a banoffi pie with ice cream & chocolate shavings or citrus curd filled brandy snaps with lime & coconut ice cream and berry couli.
